Allen James Fisher

Allen James Fisher, 50, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2013 at the Elizabeth House surrounded by his loving family after losing a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Buncombe County in Asheville, NC on May 10, 1962 and most recently lived and worked in Raleigh, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Donald and Mildred Irene Fisher.

He graduated from West High School in Hendersonville and went on to attend and graduate from Western Carolina University and Southwest Theological Seminary in North Carolina. After completing his theological degree he served several years overseas as a missionary. He touched many lives both on and off the mission field during his life. His heart and soul was for helping others anyway he could and encouraging each one to walk closer to the Lord. His life was a true testament to his faith. He had many talents and also held various jobs in the business world in the state of North Carolina.

He was an avid sports fan and especially fond of hockey, NASCAR races, baseball and college football. He loved to attend those events when he could and watch them on television if he could not be there.

He was a member of the Journey Baptist Church in Raleigh and a regular attendant at Naples Baptist Church when he was in town. He served in various capacities at his home church, teaching classes and leading group activities.

He is survived by his brother Don Fisher and his wife Candy of Bailey, CO, one sister, Susie Fisher of Fletcher, NC, his step-mother, Anne Fisher of Fletcher, NC, one niece, Lauren Fisher, and one nephew, Alex Fisher .

The funeral service will be held at Naples Baptist Church, Naples, NC at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 4, 2013 with the Reverend Richard Merck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Naples Baptist Church, P.O. Box 296, Naples, NC 28760 or to the Elizabeth House, 581 S. Allen St., Flat Rock, NC 28731.
