Carol Louise Keighron (nee Matthews), 80, of Hendersonville, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

 

Carol was born in Cleveland, OH on June 2, 1937.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Keighron; her mother, Evelyn, and step-father Theodore Guzenske.

 

She was the cherished mother of Leslie and son-in-law Bill Robins of Flat Rock, NC and Douglas Keighron of Rainbow City, AL.  Carol was the best big sister to Lois and brother-in-law Scott Lau, Midlothian, VA; devoted grandmother to Taylor Robins of Portland, OR and Jillian Keighron of Rainbow City, AL.  She was a dear and funny aunt to Bruce Lau (Kathy) of Cornelius, NC; Amy Marshall (Mac) of Midlothian, VA and Matthew Lau (Mary Ann) of Portland, OR and a great aunt to Chris, Jeff, Charlotte, McAlister and Ahni.

 

Born in Cleveland, Carol moved to Solon, OH and attended Solon High.  She was a member of the Ohio International Order of the Rainbow for Girls where she served as Worthy Advisor.  She attended Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, OH and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.   After college, she served for many years as an officer in Panhellenic.  She was a Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout Leader.  She enjoyed gardening, playing golf, and loved watching college football and golf tournaments.

 

Carol and Richard moved to Florida, where she worked for the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles.  Richard’s employer, AT&T, moved the family to Atlanta. There Carol worked for Georgia Mental Health Institute and then retired from the Georgia Institute of Technology as an administrator with OSHA.

 

Carol loved her family above all.  Once retired, she and Richard followed their children to Mobile, AL; Sugar Land, TX; Daphne, AL and finally to Hendersonville.

 

The family wishes to thank Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation, Four Seasons, and Elizabeth House for their loving care.

A private service will be held at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery where Carol will be reunited with her beloved husband, Richard.
