Jerry Ray Sain, Sr., 63, of Penrose  passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Mission Hospital. He was born on July 17, 1956 in Henderson County; a son of J.R. Sain and the late, Rosa Lee Taylor. In addition to his mother he is predeceased by his sister, Linda Faye Sain and nephew, Travis Austin Sain.

 

Jerry graduated from Edneyville High School in 1974.  He was a machine operator at Berkeley Mills-Kimberly Clark where he retired.  Jerry was an avid New York Yankees fan, fisherman, and the world’s greatest softball coach. Jerry was known to love music, especially Elvis Presley.   He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins, stamps, movies, music and old video games.  Jerry was known for his easy smile and unique sense of humor.  He loved his family and was quick to tell anyone how very proud he was of each of them.  His daily phones, will be greatly missed.

 

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Betty Jane Allman Sain; son, Jerry Sain Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Hensley of Asheville; two daughters, Rebecca Ruth Sain-Clark and her husband, Robert J. Clark of Greenville, TN and Rachel Lee Ann Sain of Penrose, NC; brother, Johnny R. Sain and his wife, Dianne Brookshire of Dana, NC; sister, Janice Sain and her husband, Brett Taylor of Little River; nine grandchildren, Joshua Clubb, currently serving in the Army, and his wife, Ashley Low of Greeneville, TN; Buddy Clubb of Asheville; Keenan Clubb of Asheville; Kaylyn Clubb of Greeneville, TN; Trinity, Hayley and Chase of Asheville; Angel Clark of Greeneville, TN; Ashley Clark of Greeneville, TN; two great-grandsons, Jasper Lee of Greeneville, TN and Joshua Jr of Greeneville; along with five nephews, Preston Jr, John, Trey, Ross, and Tyler; and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

The service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Thos. Shepherd Church Street Chapel conducted by Mr. Robert Clark. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Jerry’s memory be sent to Make a Wish Foundation, 4742 North 24th Street, Suite 400 Phoenix, AZ 85016.
