Michael Flay Newman, 63, of Zirconia, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 15, 1956 in Fletcher, NC to the late Flay Newman, Jr. and Mavis Virginia Bryan Newman, both of Hendersonville and Mother-In-Law Shelba McCall, of Tuxedo.

He graduated from Edneyville High School and attended several colleges taking classes that enabled him to spend his career as a Predictive Maintenance Analyst-RMI. He worked at numerous industrial companies enabling those companies to save expenses while also improving efficiency and production.

Michael was a member of Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church.He was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was an avid follower of Jesus, and was always the first to be involved in community service projects. He was a well loved coach of numerous teams. He loved spending any free time with his family and friends fishing, playing golf, hunting and avidly singing the praises of Alabama Crimson Tide football. ROLL TIDE!

Michael is survived by his wife of 43 years Pamela McCall Newman, three sons; Heath, Jacob and Joshua Newman and his wife Lucy Newman all of Henderson County. He is also survived by sisters Kay Dalton and Cynthia Newman as well as Laura Swaringen, long time close friend. Michael is also survived by one brother, Gary Newman, and his wife Paula. He is also survived by granddaughter Victoria Newman and grandson Gabriel Newman as well as nieces Alicia Nash and Ciara Peavy and nephews Andrew Murphy and Dakota Newman.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday August 14, 2020 at Mt. View Baptist Church in Zirconia with Reverend Sam Beddingfield and Michael’s son, Reverend Heath Newman officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. in the church sanctuary prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville.
