He was born March 9th, 1941 in Warren, CT to the late Eleanor and Allyn Perkins, and was a resident of Henderson County, NC for the past 19 years.
Growing up on the family dairy farm in Warren, CT, Allyn developed a strong work ethic early on. He graduated from Wamogo High School, was a member of 4H Club, FFA, the Congregational Churches in Warren and Norfolk including Pilgrim Fellowship. He attended Elon College, was a volunteer firefighter, President of the Georgia Arabian Association and member of the Southern Chapter of the International Clothing Designers and Executives Association.
Allyn began his career in needle sales and went on to travel the world extensively as an executive in the garment industry, including opening the American division of Eton Systems. He also owned Willow Haven Arabian Farm, was a sales representative for a promotional products company, and co-owner of Branch ‘n Berry, a vacation rental business in Mills River, NC. Those associated with Allyn remember him as a gentleman with a warm, endearing smile, positive outlook and encouraging words.
Allyn enjoyed spending time with his family as well as gardening, music, travel, playing softball, watching baseball, birds and supporting the communities he resided in.
Allyn is lovingly and joyfully remembered by his family including his daughter Alyson Johnson-Sawyer and husband Jim Sawyer, daughter Amy Perkins and husband Tom Hunt, and their mother Carolyn Rowe Perkins.
