Anthony Bernard Conser, age 75 of Hendersonville, NC died on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Elizabeth House at Four Seasons in Flat Rock, NC. He was born April 12, 1943 in Luzerne County, PA, a son of the late Adam Louis and Mary Theresa Roch Conser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his treasured and only son, Craig Anthony Conser, and by an infant brother and sister.

 

 

He graduated from Bloomsburg State College in 1965 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. He took continuing education courses from Franklin College, IN; Hamilton College, NY; the College Center of the Finger Lakes, NY; and the University of Scranton, PA. He was particularly proud of a report he wrote chronicling the history of Campbell, NY.  Until his retirement in 2000, he taught middle and high schoolers mathematics at Campbell Central School, which later became Campbell-Savona Central School. He was a passionate teacher, who enjoyed challenging his students to excel not only in academics, but personally as well. He developed an S.A.T. program which aided students in increasing their scores.

 

 

He was an avid sports fan and cheered for the UNC “Tarheels.”. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, ballroom dancing and writing poetry for his family. He walked withthe Lord and served along with his wife as a Eucharistic Minister while at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Campbell, NY. After moving to Hendersonville, NC he continued his faithful ministry at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a thoughtful and caring man with a great sense of humor who would never pass up a good bargain. He was a loving and an infinitelydevoted husband and father as well as a dear friend to many former educators that he remained in contact with after his retirement. Throughout his illness, he remained courageous and faithful.

 

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Theresa Conser; one daughter, Jessica Conser Lazenby and her husband, Kirk; his grand-cat, “Thor”; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Bombe, JoAnn Janusziewicz and Marlene Janusziewicz; two brothers-in-law: Alfred Janusziewicz and Ron Komoroski; as well as numerous extended family members.

 

 

A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 in the Our Lady of Angels Chapel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church celebrated by Father Roberto Perez.

 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Anthony’s memory be directed to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731; Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 208 7th Ave W, Hendersonville, NC 28791; or to St. Joseph’s Church of Campbell, NY, 8508 Main St, Campbell, NY 14821.
