Robert J. Steppe, age 84 of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Jesse  and Mamie Allison Steppe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five sisters, Judy Ipock, Helen Lyda, Ruby Gibbs, Flossie Harris and Reba Steppe; and by one brother, Herman Steppe.

 

He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force and was employed with Ecusta for 38 ½ years.

 

He is survived by his wife of 58 ½ years, Louise Hoxit Steppe; one son, Rick  and wife, Pam of Lewisville, N.C. two grandsons, Connor Steppe of Kansas City, MO and Tyler Steppe of Lewisville; and by one brother, Carl Steppe of Maryland.

 

A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5th, 2017 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by the Reverend Jerry Mullinax.

 

No formal visitation is planned.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Robert’s memory be directed to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or to Shaws Creek Baptist Church, 91 Shaws Creek Church Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
