Roland P. Tremblay, age 75 of Hendersonville, died suddenly on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at his home. He was born June 29, 1943 in Berlin, New Hampshire; a son of the late, Joseph D. Tremblay and Fernande Peloquin Tremblay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph R. Tremblay and Raymond L. Tremblay.
Prior to moving to Hendersonville in 2000; Roland graduated from Notre Dame High School in Berlin, NH and graduated Cum Laude in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New Hampshire. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Oahu, Hawaii and Cu Chi, South Vietnam from 1964 until 1966. He was the winner of the Army Commendation Medal.
He was employed with the Department of the Navy as a Civilian Director of Labor and Employee Relations. at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Bethesda, Md. He retired in 1996 following 30 years of service. He also served as a realtor for Long and Foster in Mt. Airy, MD from 1996 until 2000. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and served as President of the Riverwind Home Owners Association from 2002 until 2004. He was an avid reader and loved classical music.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 39 years, Joyce C. Tremblay of Hendersonville; three step-sons, Mark D. Burke (Glenda) of N.H. Tim P. Burke and David A. Burke of Tenn; a brother Maurice R. Tremblay of Berlin, NH. two sisters-in-law, Maureen Tremblay of Uxbridge, Mass. and Patricia Tremblay of Berlin, NH,; lifelong friend, Victor Lachance of NH; close friend, J. David Carroll of Mass.; He will also be remembered by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William Camire of NH, Daniel (Ruthanne) Camire of NJ , Denise (Randy) Claar of NH, Diane Nucifora (S.Mark) of Pa., and by numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his very special cat, Beau.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Roland’s memory be directed to the Blue Ridge Humane Society, 14 Town Place Drive #130, Hendersonville, NC, 28792 (for spay/neuter) or to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct. Glen Allen, VA 23060.
