Amy Davis Elmore, of Fletcher, passed away Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Lona Dee and Dan Davis of Hiddenite, NC on April 6th, 1942. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her cherished husband and father of her children, Craven Howard Sumerell; and by her brother, Dan Davis.

Amy’s vibrant life, though much shorter than we all had hoped, was one well lived. A woman of deep faith and the heart of her extensive clan, Amy’s family and friends were her passion and delight. Our sweet mother was a gracious and creative host and homemaker, an avid world traveler, an adoring and adored wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother, an enthusiastic dancer, a fiercely loyal friend and a fun loving spirit. Amy smiled and laughed easily and often. Amy turned her lifelong passion and talent for interior design into a thriving career as an interior designer and was an award winning member of the Charlotte Chapter of the International Design Society (IDS). She was active and engaged in her communities and her churches in Charlotte, Gaffney and Bristol, TN and was blissfully happy in her newlywed life with her precious Don in Fletcher.

Amy leaves behind her husband, Don Elmore; her children, Allison Hunt and her husband, Roger, Patrick Sumerell and his wife, Misty, Missy Spainhour and her husband, John; her step-children, Helen Goley and her husband, Dan, Amelia Schlatter and her husband, Marty, Don Elmore and Peyton Elmore; her grandchildren, Parrish, Julian, Craven, Anna, Caroline, Gray, Rachel, Elizabeth, Sam, Donnie, Abbey, Harris and Violette; her sister-in-law, Dell Davis; and by many dear and treasured friends and extended family all over the Carolinas and Tennessee.

Her funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at the Hendersonville Presbyterian Church, 699 N. Grove Street, Hendersonville.

Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A reception will also follow the service in the fellowship hall.

A committal service will be held at River Hills Community Church Cemetery in Lake Wylie, SC at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 15th, 2018.

Flowers are welcome or donations in Amy’s memory may be directed to Hendersonville Presbyterian Church, 699 N. Grove Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements.
