In the early hours of Christmas morning on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, Clara Schweitzer laid in her bed, closed her eyes and woke up in heaven. She was greeted by her husband Jim, her daughter Patricia Moreau, her sisters Helen Cousineau, Pat Sapp, Mary Flick, and her brother Charles Engel along with many other friends and loved ones who had entered eternity before her.

Born in 1936 and raised in Miami, Florida, Clara moved to Hendersonville in 1976 and opened Jimmy’s Pizza with her late husband. She loved the Lord and was a long time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Clara played tennis until the age of 80 and was a former Women’s State Doubles Champion. She enjoyed her weekly Mahjong games and cherished her Florida Treasures group consisting of her dearest childhood friends who had relocated to Hendersonville.

At 82, Clara leaves behind a loving family including her daughter, Terri Bowman and her husband Randy, three sons, David and his wife Diane, Douglas and his wife Cindy, and Michael Schweitzer, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many friends who will miss her dearly.

There will be a celebration of Clara Schweitzer’s life through a Memorial Mass to be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, January 11 , 2019 at Immaculate Conception  Catholic Church with Rev. Roberto Perez officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a gift to the St. Gerard House to help families with autism, 620 Oakland St., Hendersonville, NC 28791 or a contribution to the Capital Campaign for Immaculate Conception Church, 208 7th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28791 would be a meaningful way to honor Clara’s life.
