Mary June Hill Falvo, age 92 of Hendersonville, died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Life Care Center of Hendersonville. She was born June 12, 1926 in Providence, Rhode Island, raised in Fall River, MA; a daughter of the late George Henry Hill and Margaret Mullins Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Samuel C. Falvo and grandson, Ryan Zajicek.

 

Prior to retiring to Hendersonville in the 1950’s she resided in Fall River and Boston Massachusetts. She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School and received her Registered Nurse Diploma from the Union Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed with Boston City Hospital for many years.

 

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the church choir and Parish Council President. She was also a member of the Pardee Hospital Auxiliary and the Junior Welfare Club of Hendersonville. She served as a nurse for Hospice of Henderson County and enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Immaculata School and Hendersonville High School.

 

June loved her family, her faith and Hendersonville. She loved to travel and made many trips to visit family and friends around the country and world. Mostly, she was a loving mother, grandmother and wife who always put others before herself.

 

She is survived by her son, John Falvo of Hendersonville; four daughters, Sheila and Ray Zajicek of Dallas, TX, Carolyn and Michael Maccormac of Lynchburg, VA, Barbara and Andrew Hodgson of West Hartford, CT and Patricia and Ivan Held of Montclair, NJ; eleven grandchildren, Monte Zajicek, Sean, Patrick and wife, Erika and Brendan MacCormac, Shelby, Alyssa and Jack Hodgson, Joseph, George, Margaret and William Held of Montclair, NJ; great-granddaughter, Margaret Reese MacCormac; and by one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Charles Moran of Tiverton, RI.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiated by Father Martin. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in June’s memory be directed to the Community Foundation of Henderson County, P.O. Box 1108, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
