Nina Louise Johnston Todd, age 99 of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018. She was born on July 4th, 1918 in Imboden, Arkansas; a daughter of the late John H. and Nina Ellis Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard Todd, Sr. and by her brother, John H. Johnston, Jr.

 

She grew up in Arkansas, graduating from Hendrix College and earned her Master of Arts Degree from Duke University. She taught school in Arkansas, Tennessee and Hendersonville, North Carolina.

 

Nina was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville where she was active in the United Methodist Women and played piano for many years for the Roy Johnson Class. She was also a past member of the Pardee Interfaith Chaplaincy Association and a long time Pink Lady. She was a member of the Chapter O of the P.E.O.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Todd of New York, New York; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Dianne Todd of Columbus, Georgia; two granddaughters, Meredith Curtis and husband, John of Phoenix City, Alabama and Allison Maguire and husband, Kris of Columbus, Georgia; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Riley, Lily and Sam Curtis, Kate, Ellie and Annie Maguire; one sister, Laura Jean Clarke of Longwood, Florida; and by  four nieces, Cynthia Martin of Longwood, Florida, Alicia Clarke of Lake Mary, Florida, Amelia Harris of Norton, Virginia and Jennifer Tippett of Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Her life well lived will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville.

 

Burial will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Nina’s memory be directed to the First United Methodist Church Committee on Relief, 204 Sixth Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28739.
