Wanda J. Moore 70 of Mountain Home died at the Elizabeth House on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. She was born November 25, 1949, in Hot Springs North Carolina a daughter to the late Leo Joshua Hammitt and Geneva Hagen Hammitt. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Ralph Patterson Gentry. 

 

Wanda was a resident of Henderson County for 40 years. She was employed at Eaton Cuttler Hammer for 20 years and retired from Park Ridge Hospital after 14 years in 2014. She enjoyed spending time watching sports on TV as well as game shows and reality television. 

 

Wanda is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Fuller E. Moore, Jr. as well as one son Russell P. Gentry and his wife Tonja of Hendersonville. She is also survived by three siblings; two brothers Walter Hammitt of Campobello, SC; Jeff Hammitt of Newport Tennessee and a sister Debbie Hammitt of Newport, Tennessee; three grandsons, Ryan P. Gentry, Brandon M. Gentry, Walker P. Gentry, a granddaughter, Jasmin Praytor and two great-grandchildren Rowan P. Gentry and Emilia A. Gentry. Stepdaughter Chasity Moore Coryell and husband Warren, stepdaughter Jamee Hamilton as well as step grandchildren Jasmine Coryell and Warren Coryell III. Special nephews and nieces Chris Hammit, Josh Spurgeon, Jeana Waldrop and Katherine Johnson as well as several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her family Wanda left three very dear friends who will miss her greatly, Deborah Gentry, Barbara Huntley, Cathey Ebbs Stills and her four cats; “Nugget”, “Wookie”, “Sully” and “Molly” whom she loved very much.

 

A memorial service will be announced once it is appropriate to gather to celebrate Wanda’s life.
